Annual Bioengineering in Ireland Conference
The 16th Annual Conference of the Section of Bioengineering of the Royal Academy
of Medicine in Ireland will take place in the Grand Hotel Malahide,
Dublin on Friday the 22rd and Saturday the 23th of January 2010.
The conference aims to promote Bioengineering in its many facets by bringing together
the clinical, engineering and scientific communities. The conference aims to provide
a platform for new and advanced researchers alike.
As in previous years, the conference will begin on Friday and finish on Saturday
night with the gala dinner and awards ceremony. This will include the RAMI silver medal
to the Haughton lecturer, the RAMI Bronze medal to the best overall paper as well as
prizes for best student papers and commented posters. In association with the Biomedical
Engineering Division of Engineers Ireland, we are also hosting the Engineers Ireland
Biomedical Research Medal competition.
The year, there will be a commented poster session for first year researchers to
encourage more discussion and interaction between new and experienced researchers.
A panel of judges will be in attendance and award prizes to the top three commented posters.
The conference abstracts will be published in an ISBN publication that will be
printed on demand through a web-based publishing company (an electronic version will
be provided at registration). To make navigation through the conference easier,
the conference programme will include short scientific abstracts (150 words).
The template for the short abstract and full abstract is available from the website.
Please do not alter the format of the template as this will delay preparation of the
electronic and printed proceedings.
To encourage participation (and in light of the current fiscal climate!), every effort
has been made to keep costs to a minimum. The Grand Hotel Malahide was selected based
on its very competitive rates as well as its social and leisure facilities. Delegates
are encouraged to bring partners and family and stay for the weekend. The hotel is
situated in the centre of the seaside village of Malahide and is within 30 minutes of
Dublin city centre.
As the Chair of Bioengineering in Ireland16, I would like to invite you all and look
forward to seeing you in Malahide.
